WHO WE ARE WHAT WE'RE DOING
A group of students at the University of Rhode Island wanted to start an organization dedicated to the care of women and mothers. As nonprofit with domestic and overseas programs, Saving Mothers provided the perfect opportunity for these students — many of them future health professionals — to advocate for maternal health.

This Saving Mothers chapter helps the broader organization by hosting events and fundraisers throughout the year. Students interested in the cause and learning more about global maternal health are encouraged to contact the chapter.
This Saving Mothers chapter participates in URI's annual "Big Event" sponsored by the Office of International Education Center. Saving Mothers hosted a booth comparing maternal mortality statistics from around the world. Students engaged event participants, educating them about related issues on both the local and global levels.

The "Big Event" is an annual destination-themed festival, intended to promote awareness about important issues and opportunities to get involved at the University of Rhode Island. Last year's theme was Ireland, and Saving Mothers focused no the country's rapid midwife reaction time and wide availability of safe delivery practices.
