This week, Margaret Kenyatta - the First Lady of Kenya launched the “Beyond Zero” campaign, designed to help improve maternal and child health in the country and reduce new HIV infections. According to an article released by USAID, fifteen women die every day in Kenya due to pregnancy related complications and 20% of all deaths among mothers in the country are AIDS-related. The campaign will focus on accelerating existing HIV programs, encouraging investment in activities that focus on maternal and child health, empowering men as partners, engaging communities in HIV prevention and treatment efforts, and providing leadership in management of HIV and maternal and child health.

It’s a great step in the right direction for Kenya. Check out the full article here.
